Keds: SUMMER STYLE TREND
Sneakers may come and sneaker may go but the one that has stayed true to my heart is my KEDS their just a part of who I am. I start off every spring with a new Keds Crisp White Canvas Champion. Why I’ve even been known to use a pair as a basis for an Easter Basket a time or two. Once the jazz in the park season gets well on its way I’m down for more color and patterns to match my summer wardrobe. In my opinion what would summer be without an extensive array of Keds to choose from in the closet!
I remember when I first got married I went out and purchased 3 pairs of the Keds White Champions, of course the hubby could not understand buying 3 pair of the same shoe. Well it all became clear once he saw that I only wore them one by one until they lost their place in the lineup of the quick go to, due to dirt. Ya see washing them was not an option. I found that no matter how many ways I tried to wash them they would never have that white crisp look that I demanded so the next pair would be called to the front of the line.

Spring has sprung and the bunny hopped right on bye and I find myself without new Keds. I’m kind of sad that the bunny didn’t surprises me with a new pair, so I’m now left with a BIG problem. For the first time in my life, as a kid who wears Keds I’m not sure if I’m going for the Keds Classic White as my first pair for spring/summer! The many choices that are on the shelves has me going crazy…..polka dots, strips, flowers, tie dye, smooth, patterned and leather. I can’t leave out the fact that theirs Taylor’s Picks by Taylor Swift and my girl Kate Spade has her Kicks in the ring. What’s a girl to do? Hope I don’t blow my summer shoe budget on Keds, but that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing!
Now what I did with the old soldiers is another story 🙂

Unity: HOLISTIC AWAKENING
I went to take care of a friend today, me. It was so nice to be in this familiar place once again! Walking through the doors of this incredible place of healing Unity Holistic reminded me of the fact that I’ve been too busy to take care of myself and that ain’t right!
After stripping down to my unmentionables and sliding between two nice crisp white scented sheets. Jon Cloud, Mr. Magic Hands of Unity is how I refer to him arrives. He waves his healing hands over my body takes a few deep breaths and ask how much pressure would you like. My reply was medium and the healing began. Starting with the pressure points in my neck easing and gliding his hands on to my shoulders, I took in a deep cleansing breath and could now notice that the room was lit up with an amazing aroma and soothing jazz. I could feel the tension leave my body as he worked out every kink that my back was trying to hold on too. He stretched out my hamstrings and gave my calves and feet a good rub down paying attention to each and every toe.
Recovering from the coma that Mr. Magic Hands had induced it was time for my facial. Microdermabrasian is my drug of choice, which will bring you back to reality with a quickness. I would like to say that this is relaxing but in all honesty it hurts so good. Starting with the enzymatic exfoliation on to the physical exfoliation which I call extraction of blackheads from the pores. After sneezing and making noise like a whimpering puppy or my favorite laughing through the pain to keep from crying I’m home free. Aww, the tender massage and applying of the masque to tighten and brighten and hydrate which gives me that healthy glow. The Queen of Makes Me Beam has done it again, she applies sunscreen and I’m ready for the world but not out the door I have one more treatment in store for today.

No need to put on shoes just walk across the hall to my final room for the day. Lie on my back roll up the pants legs and prepare myself for acupuncture, I’ve requested more attention to the knees today. It may sound crazy that I love this treatment it truly relieves my pain and relaxes me. The needles are so tiny that I can’t even feel them being inserted contrary to belief they seem to barely go into the skin. This pain and all over body treatment brings balance, and peace to my well-being, it’s complex and hard to explain but this method of healing has been around for 2,5000 years and for me works well with western medicine.
Now that Unity has done what it takes to get my Mind, Body and Spirit back in balance, I’m feeling good, moving good and looking good, like a Baby Boomer should after all it’s the new 30!

Mother’s Day: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM
Though my mother is no longer with me here on earth she continues to walk by my side daily and is always in my heart and mind. I gave her, her flowers while she was here on earth and I would like to believe that this message in my blog continues the giving.
I set down at my computer not to write about my events of yesterday but to honor my mother today but while writing to her I suddenly felt compelled to write about my recent experience.
Mothers & All Women Should Be Honored
Its early morning Mother’s Day 2013 I’m stiff sore and tired from doing my part in the EIF Los Angeles Revlon Run/Walk on Saturday morning. My trusty partner in crime gets on this band wagon every year to push me along my sure. I’ve always felt that if women can fight daily while going through their fight with cancer I can surely do a 5K in honor of the survivors and the lovely ladies that have succumb to this horrible disease.
I do this annually for many people who I have known and many unknown, I wish I could say that this disease has not touched my life personally but as we all know it’s so wide-spread that most cannot stake that claim. Throughout my life time I have lost an aunt, cousin, friend to my husband and most recent my mother in law, it has been several years since she passed on. I honor her and my other loved ones and will continue to do so by being a participant in helping with the cure.
While listening to the speeches and watching all the smiling faces along with the flow of confetti as we start the event it truly makes me smile and brings thoughts of my aunt that is a survivor. This strong determined women continues to work, travel and enjoy life due to the wonderful research that has been done with the funds that are raised by the run/walk and other events and organizations efforts.
I’ll have to wrap up for now because I’m finding that this article is stirring up some emotions that I just was not ready for or expecting to arise…..
Happy Mother’s Day to all the ladies in my life (you’re all mother’s in some shape form or fashion), past and present you’ve all played a major part in shaping and forming me into who I am today, Thank you!

Health: LOOKING FOR A SPRING FLING….
This year the winter here in Los Angeles has not been kind to me. Summer is almost here and I’ve found myself nightly either at the computer doing my social butterfly thing, laid out on the sofa or in the bed watching TV while chompin on something that my mind says “no” but my mouth say “yes please”! The image of me eating my way through the “Biggest Loser” is oh so fresh in my mind. Trust the junk that’s in this trunk is not a good thang. Baby got back and it looks like I just rub those Almond Joy’s that I fell for all over my thighs.
Now that the weather is taking a change for the better, I’m feeling like I’m in a bad dream. I’m afraid to go toward the other end of my closet that holds the skimpy, short bright and white colors that say look at me I’m hot! Something must be done.
HEALTH AND FITNESS
Before I start my new health program, first things first, trip to the doctor-just to make sure that everything is in working order Talk about having the tools; I belong to two fitness centers, Nike app on the iPod, fitness hoop w/instructions, a yoga mat and blocks to put in work. None of these have seen the light of day or me since before I can remember.
Oh no! The universe has decided to open its mouth and speak to me…just got an e-mail requesting that I join a walking club that promotes a healthy lifestyle. This isn’t fair I didn’t think that anyone heard me nor did I think that the response time to my new health program would come so fast! Well since I’m a firm believer that all things happen for a reason and you should obey the signs, here we go….stay tuned for updates on my progress.
