Disney: Million Dollar Arm
When you’re at the bottom of the 9th with 2 strikes against you, hold a Reality Sports Show Competition (Million Dollar Arm) to find the next MLB pitcher in India??! May sound crazy but, that’s excitedly what Sports Agent J.B. Bernstein did. This biographical sports drama tells the story of the winners of the $100,000 and their trip to America for a Major League Baseball tryout. These young men are in hopes of playing the game of baseball but the agent not only wants them to play ball but become the next MLB Superstar Pitchers!
In the beginning the only concerns of the agent are his where’s the money attitude, finding the next model to date and to carrying on with his wonderful bachelor lifestyle. He totally feels nothing in regard to the inconvenience of the young men and the will work for free aspiring baseball coach from India as well. No thought has been given to the fact that these young men have left their homeland, are very scared and speak no English. Let’s add to that, feeling quite nervous about being able to perform what’s expected of them per the Million Dollar Arm Contest, due to lack of time and training of the game before the MLB tryout.
MILLION DOLLAR ARM…GOT JUICE!
This little diamond, Million Dollar Arm is very touching, quite funny & entertaining. It pulls at your heart strings it’s a win win for all involved at the end of the film! Indian teens get signed to a major league team the Pittsburgh Pirates making them the first Indians to sign a Professional Sports Contract in North America. J.B. Bernstein (agent) marries a girl that’s not a model and his pockets are fat once again! All I have left to say is… “Disney, you knocked this one out of the park! I think it has juice!!

Belle The Movie
by mitzimsa on May 12, 2014
Belle
This period drama takes place in the 18th Century and tells the story of a illegitimate biracial women who is an heiress of a Royal Navy Admiral.
The film Belle, deals with class, dowries, engagements, female empowerment and racism. Her family tree affords her privileges but her skin color prevents her from many traditions and social standings. I’m sure your thinking…here’s yet another slave movie by Searchlight… your wrong. Is it a slave story? Some what. Is it the same slave story that we’re so familiar with? No. Is slavery the only story in this film? No. Be intrigued by the different angles that Hollywood has chosen to tell the story of African Americans in bondage as of late. This movie not only reminds me of the flight the mixed race women (African American/Black mixed with the Caucasian) had in history but, of the African American’s flight period (Thanks, Donald Sterling).
Sad but true biracial women still face the difficulty today of “Where do I fit in.” Too dark to be Caucasian too white to be African American/Black along with the constant reminder that one drop of blood from a different race mixed with Caucasian deems you to the other race. Belle, brought to mind something that my mother would express to me often. “I’m proud of the fact that my daughters are able to be proud of who they are for it has not always been this way for our people” and “Honey, always remember that no matter how rich you are money will not offer you all of the privileges of the world we live in.” Unfortunately the film brought this to mind but, it is what it is people. Until we stand up and do more to make a change in the human race and our behaviors we will continue to live in this one sided existence. With that being said, DON’T SLEEP on this film it so beautifully done. The love stories, the costuming, the language and the history lesson make it worthy.
BELLE hit theaters on May 2 in NY and LA, and across the nation throughout the months of May and June.
Love Affair: The Untold Secret
by mitzimsa on May 1, 2014
THEY JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND…
It’s been two years since I attempted to fall out of love with you, my oldest and dearest friend. We have been through many tough times together. Why I don’t know how I would have ever made it through all the late nights without your love.
When everyone tried to pull me to their side, you kept calling me back. I can remember the time when some of my family members tried to get me to go to the other side, I tried but it just didn’t work out. You welcomed me back with nothing but love. Oh, the sigh of Awww that I released from my lips when we were (singing) Back Together Again!!
When I was sick, you were right beside me, when I was sad you gave me comfort and when I was heated you cooled me down. Friend, you always made me happy. We had one hell of a bubbly time together!!
Everyone knew when they saw me that you couldn’t be far behind because we were always side by side and hand in hand! Remember how we would go out on the town? You in your red (you always wore red) and me in whatever was the hottest fashion craze at the time. Man, we went everywhere together, sometime we would have to meet up but, we never spent much time apart. Then one day I was told that you were not good for me and every bad side of you was reveiled. It was said that I should consider not hanging with you so much, little by little I pulled away until I decided that it would be better if we just parted ways.
LOVE ALWAYS & FOREVR
Even though it’s been a couple of years I find myself missing you more and more these days. It’s an addiction that I thought I had shook, ya know me and you. I’m just writing this note to remind myself that you’re no good for me even though I want you back in my life right NOW!!

So today as bad as I would like to get together, I know in my heart that it’s the wrong thing to do. Your just no good for me I’ll have to continue to admire you from afar.
Coca~Cola you’re the best and always will be!

Rio 2 The Movie #RioMovie

O’VIDA, OH LIFE THE AMAZON OR BUST!
It’s time to take flight! Rio 2 April 11. Since I’ve never had the pleasure to travel to Rio, I can only image the sights and sounds. When I listen to the soundtracks from Rio and Rio 2 (John Powell and Sergio Mendes Soundtrack Producers) they transforms my thoughts to Carnival. All my life, I’ve thought of Carnival as Rio!
One of the beautiful things about working at 20th Century Fox Film Music Division…is music itself! I’ve been exposed to many different artist and their music. In Rio/Rio2 the (Director) Carlos Saldanha introduced us to the different sounds and rhythms of Brazil, that Bossa Nova & Samba sound. In order for the sound to stay true the artist were brought from Brazil to the Los Angeles to create the music I call it the “Rio Movie Sound”.
RIO 2: ROCKIN WITH THE FLOCK!!
I’ve had the Rio2 soundtrack for a few weeks now, I can truly say that the songs tell a story, I feel like I’m on the journey to the Amazon along with the characters. That’s what I call getting lost in the music and sound, add the amazing picture and your there!
I was so excited to be reacquainted with Blu, Jewel and the rest of the gang from Rio, as well as the introduction of the new characters. But, most of all I couldn’t wait to meet those three wonderful little chicks of Blu & Jewel.
Grab your kid (s) or just grab a seat at your nearest theater, animation is not just for kids anymore. The big boys and girls of the academy have shown us over the last few years that animation is great entertainment for everyone and Rio 2 lives up to just that. There’s only one thing left to say ‘O’Vida, Oh Life’ meaning Let’s Go On A Journey! See ya at the movies!
Aviator Sunglasses: What Designer Will You Choose For The Summer?
by mitzimsa on April 1, 2014
Ray-Ban: Has An Aviator For You!
Did you know that Aviator sunglasses were invented for the military? It was 1937 when the aviator was mass produced and became available in the USA. Ray-Ban had the trade mark and produced this well known shape with their logo. They became the go to shade for Air-Force Pilots. They were manufactured with mineral glass which filtered the ultra-violet rays and were light weight.

Aviator sunglasses became popular after world war two. Once General Douglas MacArthur and other pilots that had been photographed sporting the frame after landing on the beach in the Philippines. The frame style captivated civilians and other military personnel and it still remains the most popular in fashion trends for the last 7 decades.
Aviator Sunglasses Stay On Trend & Stand There Ground!!
In the 70’s from what I remember…we all wanted a pair of Aviator sunglasses. If your were sportin a Afro, Pick and Aviator Sunglasses you were BAD. They were shaped in a way that made them a good look and shape for almost anyone’s face.
Through the years many different companies and variations of the Aviator have been produced. Different lenses types have be used, like the mirrored ones Tom Cruz wore in Top Gun. A large pool of designers have put their spin on this shade with color and or a slight change in shape but, Ray Ban (Big Daddy) doesn’t step aside.
Aviators may come and Aviators may go but the one and only true Aviator Sunglasses has and will remain on top, the Ray-Ban! I’m sure we’ll be wearing these shades for decades to come, it will be interesting to see the next direction they will take. Since we live in a society that is driven by Celebrities and the popularity of what they wear the Aviator future is bright!
Muppets Most Wanted at the Legendary Palace of Hollywood! #MuppetsMostWanted
by mitzimsa on March 18, 2014
As members of the Muppets Most Wanted scrolled the credits for the human star heavy cast, I wanted more of the unforgettable jokes and songs. Throughout the movie I sang along with the upbeat tunes, stayed wrapped up in not only the main story of the Muppets european adventurous tour but, the romantic never ending love story of Miss Piggy and Kermit. In this adventure we’re introduced to Constantine (Bad Frog) whom strikes a mean resemblance to America’s favorite Frog (wrangler of the Muppets) and Miss Piggy’s man Kermie! I don’t want to spill the beans about the movie but I can say it’s a must see. Don’t be shellfish and keep this news to yourself…remember sharing is caring!
This franchise never seems to disappoint and stayed true to form with Muppets Most Wanted. The Muppets always take us into their world and show us a good time for hour and half. Jim Hanson would be proud with how the Muppets have continued to give us entertainment worthy of the entire family with the sequel, Muppets Most Wanted.

Piggy’s wedding shoes…I can’t even talk about her shoes!

Mr. Peabody & Sherman: A Baby Boomer Classic
Mr. Peabody & Sherman was fantastic and fun in that intellectual Mr. Peabody & Sherman kind of way! Go along as they take several trips through history in their time machine Wayback. The film reminded me of my days sitting in front of the TV watching the original charming Mr. Peabody & Sherman Cartoon.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman Go From Their New York Penthouse To Ancient Ruins
Take a deep breath before you go on this wild ride with Mr. Peabody & Sherman. This heartwarming, quick, action packed adventure, will take you from the Pyramids to the Trojan War and many places in between. The film not only offers lessons in history but tackles a couple of everyday situations that many children are forced to deal with today. The film has the ability to inspire the curiosity of children and keep the attention of adults, you won’t leave feeling cheated.
Tipping my hat to DreamWorks on this one, it’s kids comedy at it’s best!

Potatoes: Fry For A Side Dish
by mitzimsa on March 9, 2014
POTATOES…ANY TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME!
For the last few days my husband has requested that I make him fried potatoes. This morning before getting ready for work I decided that I would pull out the skillet and get things popin! If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to make fried potatoes, this method will suit you just fine, trust your family will love them!
Nothing fancy, start with your basic ingredients (potatoes, onions, garlic) I like to add bell pepper but since these are not for me I omitted from this batch!
Peel and slice your potatoes, rinse in cold water and place in a bowl of cold water to soak off some of the starch. While the potatoes are soaking slice the onions and garlic and any other veggie you might want to added, be creative!
Next, drain the potatoes and place in a zip lock bag, set bag in bowl and place in the microwave. Now this is the tricky part depending on the wattage of your microwave will depend on the cooking time. Just remember you are using this method to soften the potatoes so that you can fry them fast. I usually start with 5-7 minutes. and judge the tenderness to determine if more time is needed.
While waiting for potatoes to soften in the microwave, placed sliced veggies in a skillet with a little olive oil or whichever type of oil you prefer. Sauté veggies until they get a little color, I take mine to the point of carmelization to bring out the sweetness.
Once potatoes have achieved your level of softness, place them on top of the sauté veggies. Add your desired seasoning, mix to incorporate the veggies and potatoes and let cook.
They always come out perfect, enjoy!!
